Rays Reliever Colin Poche Hits Injured List with Shoulder Issue
15-Day Stay for Rays Pitcher
Tampa Bay has placed left-handed reliever Colin Poche on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder impingement. Poche has been dealing with shoulder soreness for the past few weeks and has not appeared in a game since July 19.
Poche's Role with the Rays
Poche has been a valuable member of the Rays' bullpen this season, posting a 3.86 ERA in 40 appearances. He has struck out 45 batters in 37 1/3 innings pitched.
The Rays will now be without Poche for at least the next 15 days, and it is possible that he could miss more time. In his absence, the Rays will likely turn to other relievers such as Ryan Thompson, Jeffrey Springs, and Nick Anderson to fill his role.
Other Rays Injuries
Poche is not the only Rays player currently on the injured list. Shortstop Wander Franco is also on the 10-day injured list with a quad strain, and outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is on the 60-day injured list with a hip injury.
The Rays have been hit hard by injuries this season, but they still hold a 6-game lead in the AL East. They will need to continue to play well without their injured players if they want to make a run at the World Series.
