Rays Make Roster Move Ahead of Series With Athletics
The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled right-handed pitcher Cristofer Ogando from Triple-A Durham and optioned left-handed pitcher Colin Poche to the same club, the team announced Sunday. The move comes as the Rays prepare to open a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics on Monday. Poche, 29, has appeared in seven games for the Rays this season, including one start, and has a 6.43 ERA in 11 1/3 innings. He was placed on the injured list with a left shoulder impingement. Ogando, 30, has a 2.70 ERA in 16 2/3 innings pitched for Durham this season. He has struck out 21 batters and walked seven. The Rays entered Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox with a 24-19 record, good for second place in the American League East.
