Wrexham Will Not Be Distracted by Derby 'Hype'
Parkinson Focused on the Job in Hand
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson insists his side will not be distracted by the 'hype' surrounding their upcoming FA Cup fourth round clash with Derby County.
The National League leaders, who defeated Coventry City in the previous round, will host the League One Rams at the Racecourse Ground on 29th January.
No Hype Distractions
Despite the glamour tie, Parkinson is determined to keep his players focused on the task at hand.
"There's no point getting caught up in the hype," said the former Bradford City boss. "We've got a job to do, and that's to win football matches.
"We're not going to get carried away. We know it's a big game, but we're not going to let it distract us from our main goal, which is to win promotion from the National League."
Derby Challenge
Derby will provide a stern test for Wrexham, but Parkinson is confident his team can cause an upset.
"They're a good side, but we're not afraid of them," he said. "We've got a lot of quality in our squad, and we're capable of beating anyone on our day.
"We're going to go into the game with a positive mindset, and we're going to give it our all. We know it's going to be tough, but we're confident we can get the result we want."
Promotion Priority
While the FA Cup is a prestigious competition, Parkinson knows that promotion to League Two is the priority for Wrexham this season.
"The FA Cup is a great competition, but our main focus is on winning promotion," he said. "We're not going to let the FA Cup distract us from that goal.
"We're going to give it a good go, but we're not going to take any unnecessary risks. We're going to field a strong team, but we're not going to jeopardise our promotion chances."
