Maria Schneider: A Life in Film
Maria Schneider was born in Paris on March 27, 1952. She began her acting career at the age of 15, and quickly rose to fame after starring in the controversial film Last Tango in Paris in 1972. Schneider's performance in the film was widely praised, and she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She went on to star in a number of other films, including Michelangelo Antonioni's The Passenger (1974) and Bernardo Bertolucci's 1900 (1976).
Schneider's career was often overshadowed by her personal struggles. She battled drug addiction and mental illness, and was involved in several high-profile relationships. She died in Paris on February 3, 2011, at the age of 58.
